The 35th season festivities were originally scheduled for the February 5 game vs. Atlanta Thrashers, however, Mother Nature had other plans and covered the DC area in snow. Due to the impending weather, the celebration was moved to the March 6 game vs. New York Rangers.

Commorative posters were given away to the first 15,000 fans and Caps alumni signed autographs before the game on the concourse. Special videos were shown on the scoreboard as well as show some of the Caps alums that were attending the game.

Caps wore special 35th anniversary patches on their jerseys for the March 6 game and were auctioned off after the game. This was a one-game-only set of red jerseys.
