Fan Fest, Capitals Convention Highlight Upcoming Capitals Events
Fan Fest to be held Saturday, July 16 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will host Fan Fest at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and the 2011 Capitals Convention presented by GEICO at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, two fan-friendly events that highlight the team’s schedule of events in the coming months.

Fan Fest will be held on the final day of the Capitals Development Camp, which will be held July 11-16 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. The entire camp is open to the public (complete on-ice schedule and roster will be announced at a later date) with a scrimmage set for Saturday, July 16, at 10 a.m. In addition to the scrimmage, Fan Fest will feature the team’s annual equipment sale, inflatable games and autograph sessions with Matt Hendricks and other Capitals players (TBD) as well as a special free open skate. Season-ticket holders will have the first opportunity to shop at the equipment sale; details on that opportunity will be sent to each account in their planholder update. [Schedule] [Event Map]

The third annual Capitals Convention will return to the Washington Convention Center for the second straight year. The event has been a tremendous success in its first two years, attracting sold-out crowds of more than 6,500 to the day-long interactive and informational celebration of the Capitals, which features the entire roster of current players and a number of prominent alumni including former Caps defenseman Calle Johansson, who will be making his first Capitals Convention appearance. The day will include player autographs and photos with fans. There will be a wide array of activities on hand such as hockey interactives, panel sessions, hockey displays and much more.
