Caps Fans Prepare to Rock the Red in the Playoffs
Playoff Rally, Beard-A-Thon, Viewing Parties and More to Kick off Postseason

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will kick off their pursuit of the Stanley Cup with the Rock the Red Rally on Tuesday, April 12, from 10 a.m. at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. Fans can watch the team practice as it prepares for the NHL Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff series against the New York Rangers. Game 1 will be played Wednesday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Verizon Center and available locally on Comcast SportsNet HD and Caps Radio 1500 also Baltimore fans can tune into Fox 1370 and 1350 AM The Game in Fredericksburg, Va. along with WBRG 104.5 and 1050 in Roanoke, Lexington, Lynchburg and Charlottesville.

106.7 The Fan Pep Rally Live Broadcast
The Mike Wise Show with Holden Kushner from 106.7 The Fan will broadcast live on Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The Rock the Red Rally will feature the Capitals practice and include post-practice comments from Caps public address announcer Wes Johnson. Slapshot and the Red Rockers will greet fans as they enter Kettler Capitals Iceplex and will be giving away rally t-shirts to fans throughout the morning.

Capitals Red Line
The Caps Red Line one-hour playoff special edition, presented by GEICO, will be replayed during the week on CSN and through Comcast On Demand where available, as well as online at WashingtonCaps.com. Make sure you catch the one-on-one interview with Mike Vogel and Caps general manager George McPhee. Sit down with a special interview with the host of “Meet the Press” and Caps Fan, David Gregory. Don’t miss out on the best of the season moments like John Carlson’s behind the scenes footage of the Winter Classic.

“How Are You Rocking the Red” Contest Powered by Constellation Energy
If “Rocking the Red” is what you do best, now is your opportunity to enter the “How Are You Rocking the Red” contest, powered by Constellation Energy. Fans are encouraged to submit photos showing their decorated house, office work space, cars, kids, pets and even themselves. Just log onto WashingtonCaps.com and upload your image. Also, Caps mascot Slapshot will be on the lookout for cars that are “Rocking the Red.” Once he spots one, Slapshot will pull you over and give you an instant prize.

Official Caps Viewing Parties
Fans will have a chance to win premium Caps giveaways at official viewing parties.
Game 3 (Sun., April 17): Hard Times in Clarendon – 3028 North Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va. A rally will begin at 1 p.m. in front of Hard Times and last until puck-drop at 3 p.m. Join in the fun and Rock the Red with Slapshot, the Red Rockers and 106.7 The Fan.
Game 4 (Wed., April 20 ): Union Jack’s in the Ballston Common Mall, 671 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Va.

Beard-A-Thon
The Washington Capitals, alongside media partners 106.7 The Fan and Comcast SportsNet, are encouraging fans to participate in one of hockey’s most visible traditions – the playoff beard. Beard-A-Thon participants can invite family members, friends and business associates to pledge money for their playoff beard. Confirmed beard-growers include Capitals players along with Caps radio voice Steve Kolbe, public address announcer Wes Johnson, 106.7 The Fan’s John “Cakes” Auville, Chad Dukes, Holden Kushner, Danny Rouhier and Mike Wise. Money will be donated to Fort Dupont Ice Arena for every day that a fan maintains his beard. Fans who do not wish to or are unable to grow a playoff beard can participate by pledging a donation to your favorite Caps player, fan or media personality. The fan that raises the most money will win a Caps VIP Game Experience, which includes two tickets to a game during the 2011-12 season, a meet and greet with Capitals majority owner Ted Leonsis and an autographed jersey from the player of their choice. Watch and Listen
Don’t miss any of the action this playoff season. All quarterfinal games will be broadcasted live in high definition. Fans living outside the D.C. market can watch games Game’s 1, 2 and 4 on VERSUS and Game’s 3 and 5, if necessary on NBC. Caps Radio 1500is your D.C.-area radio home for every game throughout the playoffs, while fans in Baltimore can tune into Fox 1370 as well as on 96.5 FM and 1350 AM The Game in Fredericksburg, Va. and WBRG 104.5 and 1050 in Roanoke, Lexington, Lynchburg and Charlottesville, will also pick up the Caps playoff games.
