Capital One hosted a fun and free Capitals Street Festival for Caps fans and the public before the Washington Capitals game against the Atlanta Thrashers. The hockey street family-friendly party was outside the Verizon Center on F Street between 6th and 7th Streets on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from 3-7 p.m. The weather was absolutely perfect.
The photos below show some of the activities that fans were able to enjoy such as the slap shot and accuracy challenges, photos taken in the Capital One Bank photo booth with one of the stars from the commercials, try out commentary skills in the “call-the-play” studio, meet sit on a zamboni, meet the team mascot Slapshot and get weagles painted on their faces.
There were also appearances by former Capital Peter Bondra; Chairman and Majority Owner of the Caps, Wizards, Mystics Ted Leonsis; Wizards first draft pick John Wall; and Marissa Coleman of the Mystics. Fans had the opportunity to meet them and get autographs.
Lots of fans showed up to the game early to take advantage of the fun.
