Bring Canned Food to Help Support Capital Area Food Bank
The Washington Capitals, Tires Plus, Bridgestone Tires, Comcast SportsNet, Mix 107.3, the Edge 105.9 and the Capital Area Food Bank are teaming up to host a canned food drive at the Caps game Friday, Nov. 20, against the Montreal Canadiens. The Capitals players’ wives and girlfriends will be accepting donations at the F Street Entrance to Verizon Center starting at 6 p.m. when doors open. The first 2,000 fans to donate will receive a Nicklas Backstrom poster. The Capitals, Tires Plus, Bridgestone Tires, Comcast SportsNet, Mix 107.3, the Edge 105.9 and the Capital Area Food Bank urge all Caps fans to donate at least one can of food to help in the struggle to end hunger in the Washington area.
All donations benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, the largest public nonprofit food and nutrition education resource in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Last year, the Capital Area Food Bank distributed 23 million pounds of food, including 6.6 million pounds of fresh produce, to more than 700 partner agencies. The Capital Area Food Bank has served the National Capital region for 29 years.
